Samoan Language Week 2020

Tālofa lava, afio mai,

Vaiaso o le Gagana Sāmoa - Samoan Language Week is being held from Sunday 24 May – Saturday 30 May, 2020.

The theme for this year is "Tapena sou ōso mo lau malaga" - Prepare yourself a gift for your travels. Samoa is located in the Polynesian region of the Pacific Ocean consisting of two main islands, Savai'i and Upolu. This year’s theme highlights the importance to honour, respect and share the gifts of our life’s journey and provides an opportunity to reflect in our personal journey during these challenging times. It is about coming together to build, support and strengthen the fa’asamoa (Samoan culture) and Gagana Samoa (Samoan language) with these ōso (gifts) and urges us to prepare for the journey ahead as we celebrate Vaiaso o le Gagana Sāmoa.

Unitec Library has resources in electronic version to learn more about the island nation, Samoa. Check out the Unitec Library catalogue and our Pacific subject guide.
