Samoan Language Week 2018 at Unitec Library

Talofa lava! Come celebrate Samoan Language Week with Unitec Library.
“Alofa atu nei. Alofa mai taeao" – Kindness given. Kindness gained”.

The theme is based on the principle of reciprocity offering compassion and kindness that connects the people of the Pacific. This will run from Sunday 27 May - Saturday 2 June 2018.

Gagana Samoa is the third most spoken language in New Zealand. This week coincides with Samoa’s Independence Day on Friday 1 June 2018, celebrating 56 years since the Pacific nation became independent in 1962.

Unitec Library has resources both in print and electronic to help you learn and become familiar in Samoan language. Check out the Unitec Library catalogue and our Pacific subject guide.

Come in and see our display at Unitec Waitākere Library.

Use the hashtag #SamoanLanguageWeek to follow the events on social media.

Flag down the Mt Albert campus shuttle

You can now flag the shuttle down anywhere on Mt Albert campus!

The shuttle runs every 20 minutes all day on the campus loop.  You can flag it down anytime and anywhere along the route and the driver will stop (at the closest and safest stopping point).

During peak times 7:30–8.45am and 3:00-4:45pm the shuttle also does pick-ups from Mt Albert train station (look for the van on the corner of Carrington Road and Willcott Street - next to The Lodge Cafe) and the Pt Chev shops (outside KFC on Great North Road) every 20 minutes.

There are covered stops by B112 and B001.

Check out the shuttle route below – and look out for the orange X signs on the pavement across Mt Albert campus for the route.

Mt Albert – Waitākere shuttle timetable

Remember that the shuttle runs regularly between Mt Albert and Waitākere campuses.  Check out the inter-campus shuttle timetable.
