Rotuman Language Week 2020

Noa’ia ‘e mauri,

Rotuman Language Week is being held from Sunday 10 May – Saturday 16 May, 2020.

The theme for this year is "Putua ‘os fäega ma ‘os ag fak Rotuma - Nurturing our Rotuman identity through language and culture".

Rotuma officially joins Pacific Language Week celebrations in Aotearoa with the support from Ministry for Pacific Peoples. To celebrate the beginning of 2020's Pacific Language Week, we would like to acknowledge our Rotuman community in Aotearoa for sharing your beautiful culture and language with us. The Rotuman language is listed on the UNESCO list of endangered languages. The island nation, Rotuma lies approximately 465 km to the north of Fiji Islands.

Unitec Library has resources in electronic version to learn more about the island nation, Rotuma. Check out the Unitec Library catalogue and our Pacific subject guide.

Use the hashtag #‎rotumanlanguageweek2020 to follow the events on social media.
